Please ensure that your player is available to make the time commitment to his/her team. Players who consistently miss practices and/or games are detrimental to a team as a whole. Please be aware of other commitments such as homework, school sports, community sports, etc before registering your child. Also consider the amount of travel time associated with weekly games and practices.

Registration is open until July 31, 2018.  Mail-in registrations must be post-marked by July 31, 2018.  All mail in forms post-marked after July 31, 2018 will be placed on a wait list and a $100 late registration fee will be applied per player.  Due to the lack of gym space this year we will have to impose player limits.  This will be done on a first registered basis.  Deer Valley Post Office will no longer process dropped off registration forms.

Availability of spots / Late Registrations
Age categories may fill up before July 31, 2018. Bow River is unable to guarantee that spots will be available until the end of July, due to gym constraints and the large number of players in the program.  If an age category is full, the player will be placed on a wait list and contacted if space becomes available.  Once early bird pricing ends on June 30, 2018, fees will increase as per the chart.

*  The Juvenile Division will have a shortened season in the fall (seeding round, 1 game per week, and playoffs) between September and mid-November in order to be finished for players to try out for their high school teams.  There will be a break from mid-November to January to allow for high school try-outs.  Those high school players who are not playing high school basketball, may play in the Winter season. They must register again in early December.  We will accept registrations for the winter season from players who did not play in  the fall.  We encourage those who have graduated from high school to play in one of the many adult leagues throughout Calgary.
Players born between September 1 - December 31, 2000 must provide proof of full-time high school status (i.e. student timetable).

Uniform Deposit
A separate cheque for $125 post-dated Feb. 28, 2019 (Dec 31, 2018 for Juvenile) for each player registered, must be mailed to the registrar within 2 weeks in order to complete registration.  A player will not be be allowed to participate in evaluations if this is not received.  Once the uniform is returned at the last game, the cheque will be destroyed. Should the uniform not be returned or returned in unusable condition the cheque will be cashed.  Deposit cheques are not required for Tykes.

Proof of Age and Designated Age Groups
All Mini, Bantam, Midget and Juvenile players (both new and returning players) must provide a copy of their birth certificate - may be uploaded during or after online registration (this is a one-time 2018 requirement).  A player's registration will not be accepted or considered complete until this has been received (even if payment has been made) which, after July 31, could result in being placed on a wait list. Note that proof of age is not required for Tykes.

Note that players must register in their designated age group (no "play-ups" to older age groups or "play-downs" to younger age groups). The only permissable case of "play-ups" is that of 2nd year Midget players (born 2004) who are in high school, charter or private school;  these players must register in the Juvenile age group if they intend to try out for their high school team.

The City League teams practice once a week and also play a game once a week.  Games are usually on a Saturday.  These games can be anywhere in the city and last for an hour.  They take place between 9 am and 5:45 pm.   Teams in the Juvenile Division occasionally play on Friday nights between 6:30 pm and 10:00 pm.
The City team’s season consists of approximately 16 games: 4 seeding, 10 regular season and 2 + playoff games.

Special requests such as playing with a certain player will be made directly to your Division Coordinator once you’ve been contacted by them after Registration has closed. These requests are not handled by the Registrar.

In September all registered players will be advised when their evaluations will take place.

For the city teams there will be 2 or 3 evaluations spread over 2 weeks.  In early September you will be contacted by your division co-ordinator with dates and location of the evaluation nights.

Bow River South Basketball has a policy that parents are not permitted in the gym during the City team evaluations.
Withdrawals - Please note stringent policies and fees
Notice of withdrawal must be made directly to the Registrar.

Withdrawals from the program prior to the September 1 - players will receive a full refund (less a $50 admin fee).
Withdrawals from the program prior to the end of evaluations - players will receive a partial refund of 50% of fees paid.
Withdrawals after evaluations are completed will not be considered for a refund.
The only exceptions would be those that are found to be medically necessary.

Withdrawals from the Tykes program must be made prior to September 30th in order to receive a full refund (less $50 admin fee) .  Withdrawals after this date will not be considered for a refund.  The only exceptions would be those that are found to be medically necessary.

All registrations must include a photocopy of proof of age and a $125.00 uniform deposit cheque postdated for December 31, 2018.  Players in the Tykes program do not need a uniform deposit.  If you have registered on-line please mail these items immediately in to Bow River so that we may complete your registration.  This cheque will be cashed if the uniform has not been returned in good condition by March 20, 2019.  Please send in a separate uniform deposit cheque for each child playing with their name written on the bottom to the address below:
